PRESCOTT ARIZONA IS A GREAT PLACE TO RETIRE

A TOWN FOR ALL SEASONS: Just 90 miles north of Phoenix, nestled in one of the nation's largest contiguous forests. Prescott received high ratings by O'Neil Associates/ASBA Arizona Economic Indicators Monitor for quality of life and for best downtown.

Prescott draws retirees from around the world to enjoy its unique hometown setting, old west history and wonderful climate. There are a variety of events and activities throughout the year which make Prescott one of the top metropolitan cities.

Most experts agree that retirees seek places to live that offer low crime rate, mild climate, affordable housing, attractive environment, proximity to cultural and educational activities, strong economic outlook and excellent health care.

With more than 6 golf courses, two casinos and more than 600 historical buildings, many active adults 55+ have moved to Prescott to live either in town or in one of many active adult communities. Carrying the nickname, "Everybody's Hometown," Prescott is home to the downtown Courthouse Plaza, famous Whiskey Row, World's Oldest Rodeo, Prescott Fine Arts Association, Sharlot Hall Museum and Phippen Art Museum.

Set in a high Valley at an elevation of 5400 feet in the mountains of north central Arizona, the City of Prescott borders the 1.25 million-acre Prescott National Forest to the south and west. The surrounding area offers 450 miles of hiking trails among acres of ponderosa pine.

The downtown's Courthouse Plaza, surrounded by towering elms, is the focal point for social and cultural activities, including crafts fairs, car shows, antique shows and art shows. On weekends there is always some event taking place downtown. The Plaza made the American Planning Association's list of top ten public spaces in America. The list includes such notables as Central Park in New York City and Union Station in Washington D.C.

Saloon-style bars, restaurants and unique shops line historic Whiskey Row. Downtown's old west atmosphere has served as the setting of many Hollywood films, most notably, "Junior Bonner" and "Billy Jack."
